Remember when it was Sunday for the VFA? The Victorian Football Association was once Melbourne's premier football league until some of today's powerhouse clubs formed their own breakaway competition. Despite introducing innovative rule changes to Aussie rules football, expanding into Melbourne's fledgeling south-eastern suburbs and breaking the Sunday taboo with live Sunday games on Channel 0 (later Ten), nothing could stem the VFA's steady postwar decline which resulted in the Association's 90s demise. While the VFA's greatest players continue to be shunned by footy's self-appointed code custodians, VFA fans still fondly recall the good old days of rugged suburban combat. Please note that we are 100% independent and our hand drawn retro shirts are made by local artists right here in Melbourne.
